To My Murderers

A cup of coffee is a luxury.
A pack of bland life-saving crackers.
Water becomes a necessity.
You have no right to be angry.

Numbers can be mundane.
The sharp curve will be smooth.
Helped others.
Shouldn't we get help in return?

Watch the sun disappear before your eyes.
Sleep no longer brings you peace of mind.
Sometimes the bed becomes your comfort,
Yet, sleeping doesn’t require you one.

And you've seen it all,
enough to make you choke
Enough to make you fold
The world feels broken down

Counting the lines, counting the days,
Counting the coins left for crumbs.
They are all screaming louder now,
if they're not muffled by Spotify.

It's all written in the contract.
Being killed not by a gun
Toyed with bright lights
Betting that goodness lives with everyone.

Still trying to give a fight
When the moment is about to be dead and gone
With every star, you’re wishing on
even when it's high noon.

The sun is sleeping beneath the vast clouds,
The rain pours during the night,
The wind that whisps a lone leaf,
and the thunder that strikes my core.

Who should I blame?
The self, trying to survive?
The corrupt? The incapable?
Every smile is a sham. Every sham is true.
